The Tour de France is the world’s most-watched annual cycling event, with more than 12 million spectators following it over three weeks of racing. Central to that experience is the iconic Caravan: a convoy of sponsor vehicles and team members that travels the full route, entertaining roadside fans across all 21 stages.

The challenge: Ensure Caravan team members complete mandatory safety training ahead of the race

Every year, Tour de France brings together hundreds of seasonal workers who join the legendary Caravan. From drivers and dancers to animators, every caravan team member must complete mandatory safety training before the race starts. This includes topics such as driving procedures, incident response, and crowd management.

Training hundreds of seasonal and decentralized caravan members and managers on this material without pulling them away from pre-race logistics is one of the main challenges for the 2026 edition of the Tour de France.

“We chose Kahoot! 360 because we figured it would be a simple, accessible solution to roll out and a playful, educational, and complementary way to reach all caravan members.  Everyone can use it easily and effectively on their phones, and it allows us to complete our training goal in a short amount of time.”

The Solution: Self-paced and mobile-first training strategy at scale

Tour de France successfully modernized safety training during this year’s edition for both caravan managers and frontline teams, replacing traditional training PDF briefs and documents with interactive Kahoot! 360 assignments.

These kahoots contained all the essential information that caravan managers and team members need to maintain safety on the road, as well as the Tour de France’s strict mobility guidelines and standards.

Members in the audience are using their mobile phones responding to Kahoot! questions. These are team members of the caravans at Tour de France.

“We tend to get PDFs with briefs or videos about safety during training, but with Kahoot! 360, we go beyond those simple, traditional prevention and communication materials.  Kahoot! 360  really brings interactivity. You’re not just a spectator of the materials you’re given, you’re an active participant in the learning process.”

Tour de France used Kahoot! 360 data to track completion and generate reports on learning gaps or overdue training. This digital, self-paced strategy makes training flexible and accessible to all caravan members, resulting in higher engagement and participation rates, and increased knowledge retention among caravan team members.

By scaling high-retention training across hundreds of decentralized seasonal workers, Tour de France has successfully unlocked both operational and learning excellence.

“The Kahoot! 360 training included the safety rules, the general rules of the Tour de France caravan, and rules of good conduct. I recommend Kahoot! 360 for all kinds of training. It’s really interactive, and it lets you assess your colleagues’ knowledge and then adapt your meetings accordingly.”

Organizational Impact: Scaling Training from Caravan Teams to Onboarding and Meetings

A.S.O. has expanded the use of Kahoot! 360 beyond frontline training and fan engagement across Fan Zones during the Tour de France. Today, Kahoot! 360 is part of the onboarding process for new hires at A.S.O. and it’s used as a learning tool for some internal communications campaigns.

Teams across multiple departments in the organization use Kahoot! 360 to run interactive meetings and presentations, replacing passive updates with sessions people actually engage with.

“Beyond our core caravan training, Kahoot! 360 has become a staple for onboarding, meetings, and workshops within A.S.O. Recently, our HR department utilized the platform to spearhead an internal disability awareness campaign. This approach allows us to deliver educational and significant content while keeping the experience engaging.”

The Takeaway: Driving scalable performance and corporate alignment

Tour de France deployment of Kahoot! 360 offers a clear blueprint for global event organizers who need to rapidly train distributed teams. Following this success, A.S.O. is scaling the partnership in three key directions:

  • Global Event Expansion: Taking the mobile-first, self-paced learning model to train seasonal teams at scale at La Vuelta in Spain and the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.
  • Next-Gen Fan Engagement: Adapting the platform to interact with and engage millions of cycling and motorsport fans worldwide with live activations.
  • Enterprise-Wide Alignment: Integrating Kahoot! 360 deeper into corporate operations, moving beyond onboarding and daily huddles to power strategic internal messaging campaigns.
